LOVE PEOPLE
Through our Love In Action efforts, theHeart develops initiatives and also partners with like-minded organizations to care for the most vulnerable. Our greatest desire is that this commitment to loving people provides a catalyst for individual efforts within our church family that grow well beyond this short list.
BENEVOLENCE
We are often contacted by people in our community who are in need of short-term financial assistance. Whether it's helping pay a utility bill, covering a hotel room for the night, filling up a tank of gas, or whatever it might be, we have a process in place to determine how we can financially and spiritually help our friends.
FOSTER CARE
As followers of Christ, we are called to care for the most vulnerable amongst us. At theHeart, we have a growing number of families who are living out this call by providing a safe place for children and young people in our community through foster care. Whether you are a foster parent or someone who wants to play a supportive role, there is a place for you in this community-wide effort.
HIGH COUNTRY ENGAGEMENT
We have a vision to engage the heart of the High Country. This includes many different efforts including forming Spiritual Formation Groups that serve the specific needs of this area and partnering with churches, campus ministries, and other organizations to serve our neighbors well.
THE HOPE CENTER
Based in Boone, The Hope Center works to empower women with unplanned pregnancies and helps them make informed choices. theHeart provides a monthly donation and an annual fundraising campaign to help support that mission.
HOSPITALITY HOUSE
Hospitality House is an area organization that offers at-risk residents with housing, nutrition, and prevention in a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment. theHeart provides financial support that goes towards the preparation of meals through F.A.R.M Cafe.
WATAUGA COMPASSIONATE COMMUNITY INITIATIVE (WCCI)
We are actively involved in the effort to promote health and resiliency in our community. Along with educators, public health officials, medical professionals, and other faith communities, we are working to effectively prevent, recognize, and treat trauma by creating safe, stable, nurturing environments and relationships through education, advocacy, and policy change.
