Hannah Siegel spent three months this summer interning with Emoyeni, our ministry partner in South Africa. She has returned with an incredible story to share about her experiences in helping to restore the true identity of children to their place as God's sons and daughters.
Two weeks ago I stepped off a plane in America after the most life-changing, eye-opening three months of my life. And nothing has been the same since.
South Africa without a doubt changed my life.
I got to do life with the most God-fearing group of people I've ever met. I got to learn and grow under incredible leaders of the faith. I got to play in the dirt with the most joyful kiddos and laugh with them until my stomach hurt. I got to share with God's children how much their Abba loves them. I got to meet some of the poorest yet most generous people on this earth.
There is no doubt this all changed who I am. But what absolutely wrecked my life was the Holy Spirit meeting me amidst all of this and completely penetrating my heart.
It took me traveling halfway around the world with people I had never met, to a place I had only seen in pictures, for me to realize how BIG the God we serve is.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”–Matthew 28:19-20
While I'm missing my new home and my new family these first few week back in Boone, I am eager to share all that The Lord has generously shared with me during this season with my friends and family at theHeart.

Simply Responding to God's Call
This experience gave me a completely new perspective on the importance and urgency of missions, which is why I am thrilled that theHeart is partnering with Emoyeni Ministries by bringing over a team in November.
If The Lord is tugging at your heart to travel to this amazing community, I cannot encourage you enough to get on that plane.
"[God] wrecked who I was and He is putting the pieces back together into something more beautiful than I could have imagined."–Hannah
If you are interested or want any more details about logistics of the trip, what kind of work you would be doing, or if you will be sleeping on the ground (the answer is no:)), I would be more than happy to talk and pray with you.
God is capable of accomplishing so much in the hearts of His people when they simply respond to His call to GO and make disciples of all the nations.
theHeart On Mission
For years, theHeart has supported the ministry work of Emoyeni in South Africa. Founded in 2002, Emoyeni serves to help the orphans and vulnerable children infected and affected by the HIV/AIDS crisis in Mpumalanga. As they establish relationships of trust, Emoyeni seeks to restore the God-given identity of these children to their place as God's sons and daughters. theHeart is assembling a mission team that will travel to South Africa November 14-25 to assist Emoyeni in its efforts. The deadline for committing to this incredible experience is this Sunday, September 2. Learn more about theHeart's trip to South Africa.
